Having nearly 20 years experience in broadcast program production and management, Doug High is Production Manager, as well as a partner in Witnessing History, LLC. Mr. High is an award winning Producer and Director of nationally broadcast documentary programming, with titles on HRTV, PBS and Sundance Channel.
Mr. High manages Witnessing History, LLC’s video production component and oversees a freelance and vendor work force of approximately 15 people who are charged with producing documentary programming for broadcast and DVD release. Doug High also co-anchors the news broadcast “Good Morning Kentucky” weekday mornings for the ABC-TV affiliate in Lexington, Kentucky, WTVQ CH 36.
From 2002 through 2008, High served as General Manager/Executive Producer of Post Time Productions, one of Central Kentucky’s largest High Definition video production studios, specializing in broadcast, corporate and documentary video production.
Prior to Post Time in 2001, Doug was Director of Sales and Program Moderator for Wyncom Productions “Lessons In Leadership” worldwide satellite broadcast programs and syndicated feature news reports featuring Dr. Stephen Covey (7 Habits of Highly Effective People) Ken Blanchard (One Minute Manager) and Tom Peters. The first eight years of his career were spent serving as a news anchor, reporter, program host, weathercaster and advertising executive at four television stations in Ohio and Kentucky.
Doug serves proudly in the US Navy Reserve as a Public Affairs Officer. Lieutenant Commander High is assigned to the Sixth Fleet Public Affairs office in Naples, Italy, headquarters for the US Navy presence in Europe and Africa. His annual 2 week tours of duty have taken him around the world, from Bahrain to Japan to the UK, Greece, Spain, Diego Garcia and numerous missions up and down the east and west coast of the African continent. Highlights have included working on the CBS TV series JAG, media escort and spokesperson for the 55th Presidential Inauguration parade, spokesperson for the US Naval Academy Induction Day services in 2004 and media escort for the USS Ronald Reagan Home porting in San Diego that same year. With no prior military service, High requested and was granted a direct commission officer program to Ensign following the terrorist attacks on 9/11/01.
Douglas is a 1992 graduate of Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio with a B.A. in History/Political Science. His hometown is Mansfield, Ohio. Doug and his wife Lyssa reside in Lexington, Kentucky. Together, they formed High Impact Productions to underwrite and executive produce the Witnessing History documentary “Retreat from Gettysburg.” They have two sons, Jackson and Harrison, and a yellow Labrador, Brandy, who is a certified Search and Rescue Dog.
