Jared, a Creative Services Producer at WLEX-TV and field videographer for Witnessing History, took his first steps into the world of video production when he was just ten years old. In 1989, his family purchased a Magnavox VHS camcorder for home movies. It wasn’t long before Jared and his brother were creating stop-motion animations and re-creating skits for school projects. Upon graduation from the University of Kentucky’s School of Journalism in 2001, Hamm was hired as a news photojournalist at WCIV-TV in Charleston, SC. Since then, he’s covered news in the Lowcountry and in Nashville, TN; produced numerous commercials in Lexington and around Central Florida, teamed up on a missing-child documentary in the Hawaiian Islands, and worked in various freelance capacities with the Meredith Corp., the Golf Channel, HRTV.
