THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE GETTYSBURG TOUR EVER!
April 11, 12, 13, and 14, 2018
Witnessing History Education Foundation, Inc. and the Civil War Education Association, Inc. have joined forces to provide the most comprehensive and detailed tour of the three bloody days at Gettysburg ever offered! Headquartered at the beautiful Wyndham Hotel in Gettysburg, the tour will cover not only how the battle was fought at every phase, but will present, in detail, the challenges presented to each commander who precipitated the clash, as well as the challenges presented to the commanders as the fighting progressed, hour-by-hour and day-by-day. The great questions raised by the Battle of Gettysburg – how the battle began, how and under what circumstances both armies congregated there, the horrific logistical considerations that restricted the movements of both armies and dictated the operations, the near catastrophe that the placement of Sickles’s corps brought about, and the considerations behind the final attack of the battle, among others – will be examined in detail where the actions occurred. The Pipe Creek Line, Marsh Creek, McPherson’s Ridge, Oak Hill, Barlow’s Knoll, Cemetery Hill, Culp’s Hill, the Peach Orchard, the Wheatfield, Devil’s Den, Little Round Top, the Valley of Death, and Cemetery Ridge will be among the many places visited where the importance of the site and/or the fighting will be discussed in detail. The tour will challenge much of what has been written and said about Gettysburg; it will entertain and fascinate all in attendance.
The tour will be led by Kent Masterson Brown, author of Retreat From Gettysburg: Lee, Logistics, and the Pennsylvania Campaign (Chapel Hill: UNC Press, 2005) who will have completed George Gordon Meade and the Gettysburg Campaign for UNC Press.
Lunches will be served at the fabulous Hickory Bridge Farm Restaurant in Ortanna, Pennsylvania each day.
The fee is $459.00 per person
